Nagoya, Japan, August 20, 2026: About 160 people joined a canoeing experience event hosted by the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games Organising Committee.

The event took place at the Aeon Miyoshi shopping mall in Miyoshi city, Aichi Prefecture, over two days, and members of the public were able to experience the joy of canoeing in a small pool and also on a training machine.

“We hope this experience will spark interest in canoeing,” AINAGOC said.

Shoppers were shown how to hold a canoe paddle and learned all about the sport, with many families joining in the fun.

AINAGOC also used the occasion to promote the Asian Games, which will run from September 19 to October 4, and displayed the schedule of the canoe/kayak competition, as the sprint races will be held at Miyoshi Lake canoe course.

Asian Games mascot Honohon also made an appearance and provided a photo opportunity for the locals.
