Baghdad, Iraq, August 19, 2026: The President of the National Olympic Committee of Iraq, Dr. Aqeel Muften, has called for the Iraqi Football Association to provide former national team player Emad Mohsen with a job after discovering the centre-forward had fallen on hard times.

Social media in Baghdad had highlighted that Mohsen, who had previously played in the Iraqi Premier League and represented the national team, had been driven to work as a taxi driver due to unfortunate circumstances.

On hearing about Mohsen’s plight, the Iraqi NOC President has asked the country’s Football Association to “embrace” him and provide him with a suitable job opportunity within the association.

“Dr. Aqeel Muften has emphasised the importance of standing by athletes who have dedicated years to Iraqi sport, preserving their dignity and benefiting from their expertise after retiring from the field,” the Iraqi NOC posted.

This initiative comes as confirmation of loyalty to athletes who have served Iraqi national teams and clubs, and not forgetting them after the end of their sports careers.
