Hong Kong, China, June 1, 2020: The Asian Electronic Sports Federation (AESF) has launched the “Your Home, Your Arena” campaign in light of the COVID-19 pandemic.
With the goal of connecting and uniting the Esports community through social media and online tournaments, the campaign aims to provide assistance to vulnerable communities impacted by COVID-19 through Esports activities, crowd-funding and fundraising drive.
The idea behind “Your Home, Your Arena” is self-explanatory: gamers convert their homes into their personal arena. This in turn encourages people to stay home, stay safe and practice social distancing while providing enjoyment as well as staying connected.
The core objectives of the campaign are:
*To unite the Esports community by working together with member associations, publishers, Esports athletes and Esports fans,
*To provide a source of entertainment to the Esports community through the Your Home, Your Arena Charity Cup,
*To promote the importance of helping the community in need and further extend assistance to those communities.
In order to achieve the points above, two main activities will take place:
●Your Home, Your Arena Charity Cup – an invitational tournament involving two game titles - Mobile Legends: Bang Bang and The King of Fighters. It will start from June 4 and participants have been confirmed from Brunei, Cambodia, China, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Singapore and Thailand. All matches will be available on stream via YouTube.
●Your Home, Your Arena Charity Fundraising – a fund set up to encourage the public to donate to help the affected community.
AESF President Kenneth Fok said: “Through this initiative we hope to harness the spirit of the Esports community for something which would benefit those beyond our immediate circle. No effort is too small and I welcome everyone to play an important part in this.”
