Baghdad, Iraq, August 12, 2026: The annual Soccer Star awards ceremony on Monday, August 10, honoured athletes who had excelled in the past year, including medal winners at the Asian Youth Games and the Islamic Solidarity Games held last year.
The ceremony, organised by an Iraqi magazine at the Baghdad International Fair Hall, was attended by the President of the National Olympic Committee of Iraq, Dr. Aqeel Muften, and members of the Executive Committee, along with a number of distinguished sports figures.
The Iraq NOC President lauded the country's athletes who won medals at the Asian Youth Games in Bahrain and the Islamic Solidarity Games in Riyadh last year.
The Iraq NOC posted on its Facebook page that the awards were in recognition of the results achieved in continental and international forums, with these efforts contributing to raising the profile of Iraqi sport and enhancing its sporting presence on various levels.
The ceremony also honoured a number of football players who had excelled with their clubs in the past season.
