Lahore, Pakistan, August 9, 2026: Pakistan’s boxing hero Fatima Zahra has been receiving the star treatment after her breakthrough bronze medal at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, Scotland.
Fatima, 22, won bronze in the women’s 60kg category – the first medal for a Pakistani female athlete in the history of the Commonwealth Games.
Now, her hometown of Sargodha has rewarded her with an open top limo parade and education benefits, labelling her “the Daughter of Sargodha”.
In a special poster marking her achievement, Fatima is described as the “Pride of University Education Lahore and Sir Syed College of Education Jauharabad” – where she is in her first semester.
Fatima has earned a cash prize and free education from Sir Syed College of Education Jauharabad - a town in the Punjab province of Pakistan, serving as the headquarters of Khushab District.
The trailblazing young boxer admits she was inspired by the achievements of Indian boxing icon Mary Kom during her journey.
