Barcelona, Spain, August 7, 2026: The Olympic Council of Asia and the Caribbean Association of National Olympic Committees (CANOC) have signed an agreement to foster closer sporting ties between the two regions.
OCA President Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad Al Thani signed on behalf of the Asian governing body while CANOC President Keith Joseph signed on behalf of the Caribbean NOCs.
The agreement, which was signed in Barcelona, Spain on Friday, August 7, will result in a close relationship between the two organisations.
It will be for a period of six years – from 2026 to 2032 – with the provision for extension on mutual consent.
“We will share information with each other as well as exchange knowledge and expertise in sports development,” said Sheikh Joaan, who is also the President of the Qatar Olympic Committee.
The OCA has 45 member National Olympic Committees while CANOC has 32 member countries and territories across the Caribbean.
