OCA seeks nominations for Athletes Committee election at Asian Games

Kuwait City, Kuwait, August 6, 2026: The Olympic Council of Asia is calling for nominations for the OCA Athletes Committee election to be held during the 20th Asian Games in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan from September 19 to October 4. The closing date for nominations is Friday, August 21.

The election will fill four places on the OCA Athletes’ Committee:

*West Asia, one female athlete

*Central Asia, one male athlete

*East Asia, one male athlete

*South East Asia, one female athlete

The following five National Olympic Committees cannot submit a candidate as they already have a representative on the OCA Athletes Committee:

*Saudi Arabia

*India

*China

*Hong Kong, China

*Singapore

In addition, no nominations are being accepted from South Asia as the zone already has an approved athlete representative.

The following four criteria must be met for a nomination to be valid:

*Must be competing at the 20th Asian Games Aichi-Nagoya 2026

*Must have competed at the 18th Asian Games Jakarta-Palembang or 19thAsian Games Hangzhou 2022

*Must have competed at the Asian Games in a Summer Olympic sport discipline

*Must be nominated by an eligible National Olympic Committee within their designated zone and gender category.

The election period will be from September 20 to October 2 at the Asian Games Aichi-Nagoya 2026.
