Jordan to compete in 16 sports at Aichi- Nagoya Asian Games

Amman, Jordan, August 5, 2026: Jordan will take part in 16 sports at the Aichi-Nagoya 2026 Asian Games from September 19 to October 4.

 

The sports are: basketball, boxing, cycling, equestrian, esports, fencing, gymnastics, jiu-jitsu, karate, mixed martial arts, squash, sport climbing, triathlon, tennis, taekwondo and weightlifting.

 

Jordan Olympic Committee Secretary General Rana Al-Saeed said that participation in the Asian Games was of great importance to Jordanian sport as it was the largest sporting event in Asia and one of the strongest and most important multi-sport events in the world.

 

Al Saeed noted: “We look forward to our national teams performing at their best and achieving results that reflect the amount of work done by the sports federation and its athletes which will contribute to enhancing the presence of Jordanian sports on the continental scene.”

 

The JOC Secretary General pointed out that the Asian Games were not only important in terms of competition but also constituted a major milestone in the preparation programme of many national teams as they provided the chance to interact with elite athletes in Asia.

 

The Asian Games also contribute to assessing technical readiness before the qualifying events for the Los Angeles 2028 Olympics, she added.
