Glasgow, Scotland, August 3, 2026: Indian boxer Sakshi Chaudhary summed up the feeling of standing on top of the podium at a major international multi-sport games in a moving Facebook post.
Sakshi was one of seven Indian boxers to win gold on the same day at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, triumphing in the 51kg category. India also won three silver medals in a 10-medal boxing bonanza – an unprecedented achievement in CWG history.
“I am living my dream,” Sakshi, 25, said in a social media post.
“Standing on top of the podium with the Indian flag is a feeling I can't put into words. This Commonwealth Games gold medal is dedicated to all 1.5 billion Indians. Representing my country has been the greatest honour of my life.
“Years of hard work, discipline, sacrifices, pain, and belief have led to this one moment. Every challenge was worth it.”
Sakshi paid a “heartfelt thank you” to the Boxing Federation of India, the Sports Authority of India and Team India as well as her coaches, family, teammates, support staff and “everyone who believed in me through every step of this journey. This victory belongs to all of us.”
She concluded: “The dream came true... and the journey continues. Jai Hind.”
India finished fourth in the final medal rankings with 13 gold, 17 silver and nine bronze medals, behind only Australia, England and Canada.
