Kathmandu, Nepal, July 30, 2026: The Nepal Olympic Academy in conjunction with the Nepal Olympic Committee conducted a two-day safeguarding orientation programme on July 28-29 for athletes, coaches and managers, and officials preparing for the Aichi-Nagoya 2026 Asian Games.
The sessions held at the NOC headquarters focused on safeguarding in sport, including the prevention of harassment and abuse, protection of athletes’ rights and well-being and the shared responsibility of athletes, coaches, managers and officials in maintaining a safe, respectful and inclusive sporting environment.
National Olympic Academy President Tej Bahadur Gurung inaugurated both sessions. The orientation was led by Prativa Joshi, Dr. Pramila Thapa and Sujan Lal Shrestha, while Ramji Bahadur Shrestha, NOC Deputy Secretary General, was introduced as Nepal’s Safeguarding Officer for the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games.
The sessions on Tuesday were attended by athletes from archery, badminton, boxing, kabaddi, judo, swimming, squash, table tennis, taekwondo and volleyball. The sessions on Wednesday included athletes and officials from athletics, cricket, golf, karate, soft tennis, skateboarding and wushu.
Representatives of the National Sports Council also attended the sessions.
The Nepal Olympic Committee said similar orientation sessions would be held for participants from the remaining sports ahead of the Asian Games, which will run from September 19-October 4.
