Hong Kong, China, July 29, 2026: The latest edition of “Olympic Voice of Hong Kong” puts the new Asian Games sport of padel firmly in the spotlight.
Padel, a combination of tennis and squash, is among the 43 sports to be contested at the 20th Asian Games in Aichi-Nagoya from September 19 to October 4, 2026.
Writing in “Olympic Voice of Hong Kong” - the official newsletter of the Sports Federation and Olympic Committee of Hong Kong, China - SF&OC President Timothy Fok says the feature on padel is to enable the local people to learn more about the sport.
“Padel, a new sport that has rapidly gained popularity in Hong Kong, has been included in this edition of the Asian Games as an official medal sport – and our Hong Kong team look forward to competing,” writes Mr. Fok, who is also First Vice President of the OCA and Honorary Member of the IOC.
“SF&OC will remain the strongest supporter of our athletes and teams to ensure they can give their all on the Asian Games stage without worries.”
Mr. Fok also looks forward to the XXVIII ANOC General Assembly to be hosted in Hong Kong for the first time this December.
“Preparations are now in full swing. I look forward to showcasing Hong Kong’s capabilities through this event, strengthening international exchanges and cooperation, and consolidating the position of our country and Hong Kong in the international sports community,” he added.
