Nagoya, Japan, July 21, 2026: Preparations for the Aichi-Nagoya 2026 Asian Games will take another big step forward with the draw for team sports on Thursday, July 23.
The team draw ceremony will be held at the Nagoya Hilton Hotel and feature eight sports: water polo, handball, football, sepaktakraw, kabaddi, cricket, rugby sevens and volleyball.
The 30-minute opening ceremony will start at 1.00pm Japan time with a welcome address from the President of organising committee AINAGOC, Mr. Hideaki Ohmura, Governor of Aichi Prefecture.
This will be followed by comments from the Acting Chair of AINAGOC and the Mayor of Nagoya, Mr. Ichiro Hirosawa; the Chair of the OCA Coordination Committee for the 20th Asian Games, Mr. Mohammad Tayyab Ikram; the Commissioner of the Japan Sports Agency, Mr. Junichi Kawai; and the Vice President of the Japanese Olympic Committee, Ms. Yuko Mitsuya.
The team draw ceremony will start at 1.30pm and finish at 5.50pm.
A press conference is scheduled to be held from 6.20pm, followed by a welcome reception.

The 20th Asian Games will run from September 19 to October 4.
