Singapore, July 21, 2026: The Singapore National Olympic Council has welcomed the induction of two Olympians into the Singapore Sport Hall of Fame: Tang Pui Wah (athletics) and Tay Chin Joo (swimming).
Their Hall of Fame medallions were presented by President Tharman Shanmugaratnam at a recent ceremony in recognition of their remarkable achievements and lasting contributions to Singapore sport.
“We celebrate two extraordinary women whose courage, excellence and lifelong dedication have helped shape Singapore sport,” Singapore NOC posted on social media.
“Congratulations to Olympians Tang Pui Wah and Tay Chin Joo on their induction into the Singapore Sport Hall of Fame.
“As Singapore's first female Olympian (1952), Tang Pui Wah broke barriers and paved the way for generations of women in sport.
“Tay Chin Joo, an Olympian (1972) and swimming pioneer, has dedicated a lifetime to developing future generations of athletes long after her competitive career ended.
“Though they competed in different eras, both embody the values of perseverance, passion and service. Their legacies extend far beyond medals as they continue to inspire countless athletes and helped shape Singapore's sporting landscape for generations to come.
”Congratulations Pui Wah and Chin Joo once again on this well-deserved honour.”
