Harbin, China, July 20, 2026: The OCA/ISU Asian Short Track Speed Skating Youth Camp has attracted 35 athletes and 12 coaches from 14 National Olympic Committees.
The camp opens on Monday, July 20 and runs until Sunday, July 26 in the winter sports hot bed of Harbin in Heilongjiang province, northeast China.
The 35 athletes are composed of 23 male skaters and 12 female skaters, while 10 of the 12 coaches are male and two female.
The 14 NOCs represented are: India, Indonesia, Kazakhstan, Korea, Kuwait, Malaysia, Mongolia, Philippines, Qatar, Chinese Taipei, Thailand, Turkmenistan, Vietnam and the host China.
The fact that several NOCs are from the Gulf and southeast Asia zone reflects the OCA’s commitment to developing winter sports throughout the continent.
The head coach and instructor is Chun Jae-su, who has served as head coach or coach of the national and Olympic teams of Korea, Canada, the United States, Hungary and China.
Over six Olympic Winter Games, from Torino 2006 through the 2026 cycle, his athletes have won a total of 18 Olympic medals, including eight golds. His coaching approach emphasises fundamental technique, tactical refinement, race strategy and high‑performance training systems for both senior and junior athletes.
