Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, July 20, 2026: Malaysia’s “Flying Doctor” Mani Jegathesan brought a touch of glamour and nostalgia to the Asian Games Fun Run in Kuala Lumpur on Friday, July 17.
Dr. Jega – one of the most popular and respected figures in the Olympic movement in Asia – was among the list of Malaysian Asian Games medalists joining the fun of the fun run to promote the 20th Asian Games in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan this September.
The three-time Olympic sprinter won a gold medal in the men’s 200 metres at the 4th Asian Games Jakarta 1962 and completed a remarkable hat-trick of gold medals at the 5th Asian Games Bangkok 1966 in the men's 100m, men's 200m and men's 4x100m relay.
The physician also previously served as Chair of the OCA Medical Committee and remains a charismatic character and inspiration to the current day athletes on Team Malaysia.
Dr. Jega, 82, is pictured receiving his finisher certificate from the President of the Olympic Council of Malaysia and OCA Vice President for the SEA zone, Dr. Norza Zakaria, at Sunway City last Friday.
