Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, July 19, 2026: The President of the Olympic Council of Malaysia, Dr. Norza Zakaria, has praised the SEA spirit for contributing to a joyous final leg of the Asian Games Fun Run for Aichi-Nagoya 2026.
The fun run was held at Sunway Lagoon Theme Park, Sunway City, Kuala Lumpur on Friday, July 17 and attracted 1,000 participants. The event coincided with two days of meetings of the South East Asian Games Federation ahead of the 34th SEA Games Malaysia 2027.
Dr. Norza, who is OCA Vice President for the South East Asia zone and President of the SEA Games Federation, commented: “On behalf of the National Olympic Committee of Malaysia, we extend our heartfelt gratitude to all our partners…and all participants who made the final leg of the Asian Games Fun Run Aichi-Nagoya 2026 an overwhelming and joyous success as Asia looks forward to the spectacular 20th Asian Games Aichi-Nagoya 2026 in September.”
Dr. Norza thanked in particular the Sunway Group of Companies, OCA, Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games Organising Committee AINAGOC, SEA Games Federation, the 11 NOCs of the South East Asia zone, National Sports Council, National Sports Institute, Sports Commissioner’s Office, Malaysia SEA Games Organizing Committee, National Sports Associations, Penang State Sports Council, legendary Asian Games medallists, current national athletes and invited guests.
The fun run was officially flagged off by a distinguished lineup of dignitaries led by Dr. Norza and also including Mr. Mohd. Anuar Taib, President of Sunway Group; His Excellency Mr. Ye Myint Tun, Union Minister of Sports Myanmar and President of NOC Myanmar; Mr. Wissam Trkmani, Director of OCA Family Relations and Development Programmes; Mr. Calvin Ho, Chief Executive Officer of Sunway Theme Parks; and Mr. Alex Castaldi, Chief Executive Officer of Sunway Hospitality Group.
Bringing even more prestige to the fun run were several distinguished Malaysian Asian Games medallists, namely Dr. Mani Jegathesan, former Chair of the OCA Medical Committee; Mr. Shu Wai Ng, Ms. Syaidatul Afifah Badrul Hamidi; Mr. Muhammad Rafiq Ismail; Mr. Chye Chern Tan; Mr. Ahmad Muaz Mohd Fishol; Mr. Muhamad Syafiq Ridhwan Abdul Malek; Ms. Siti Safiyah Amirah Abdul Rahman; Ms. Li Jane Sin; and Ms. Natasha Mohamed Roslan.
Adding to the festive atmosphere, participants had the unique opportunity to meet two special mascots: Honohon, official mascot of the 20th Asian Games Aichi-Nagoya 2026, and Tuah, the newly launched official mascot of the 34th SEA Games Malaysia 2027.
