Dhaka, Bangladesh, May 26, 2020: Bangladesh Cricket Board has distributed Tk5 million (US$58,780) to 501 vulnerable athletes across 23 sports federations other than cricket.
The cheques were handed over to the government last Wednesday, May 20, as part of the Bangladesh Cricket Board’s initiative to support athletes affected by the Covid-19 pandemic in the country.
Nazmul Hasan, the BCB president, handed over the 501 cheques of Tk10,000 (US$117) each to the State Minister for Youth and Sports, Zahid Ahsan Russel.
Earlier this month, the Bangladesh government announced it would hand over Tk10,000 (US$117) each to 1,000 athletes. The funds for 501 athletes came from the BCB donation.
