Guangzhou, China, July 15, 2026: Asia’s young wrestlers were urged to keep the legend going of this classic Olympic sport on the final day of the 2026 OCA-UWW Asian Wrestling Youth Camp and Course for Coaches at the Guangzhou Polytechnic of Sports on Wednesday, July 15.
The plea came from Arsen Julfalakyan, a three-time Olympian in Greco-Roman Wrestling and Olympic silver medallist at London 2012 and UWW Bureau member.
The Armenian has been leading the training in Guangzhou and gathered the 62 athletes and 30 coaches from 30 National Olympic Committees at the end of their final training session before the closing ceremony.
After asking for a round of applause for the coaches, who were devoting their time and help to the young wrestlers, he asked the athletes to continue the great legacy of wrestling in the years to come.
“Thank you for coming into this sport,” he said.
“This is one of the best, hardest and ancient sports. You are continuing the legend. Respect the traditions and make our sport more well-known and popular. Enjoy you sport and I wish you a lot of victories.”
Arsen thanked United World Wrestling and the OCA for putting together this camp, which opened on July 8 and has seen the coaches and athletes come under the guidance of a series of experts from the UWW.
The closing ceremony and presentation of certificates was scheduled for Wednesday afternoon.
