Baghdad, Iraq, July 14, 2026: The President of the National Olympic Committee of Iraq, Dr. Aqeel Muften, has extended his deepest condolences to HE Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad Al Thani, OCA President and Qatar Olympic Committee President, on the death of his father, HH Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani.
“On behalf of the Iraqi National Olympic Committee and the sports family, I express my sincere condolences to the noble family of Al Thani. May the Almighty bless the deceased with his mercy, dwell him in his vast gardens, and inspire his family and loved ones with patience and solace.
“To Allah we belong and to him we shall return,” the Iraqi NOC President posted.
HH Sheikh Hamad, Qatar’s former Amir, passed away on Sunday, July 12. He was 74.
