*With profound sorrow and deep sadness, we have received the news of the passing of His Highness Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, the Father Amir and former Amir of the State of Qatar.*
On behalf of the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) and the Asian Olympic Movement, the Olympic Council of Asia extends its deepest condolences and sincere sympathies to to His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, Amir of the State of Qatar, Member of the International Olympic Committee, and President of the General Assembly of the Qatar Olympic Committee; to His Excellency Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad Al Thani President of the Olympic Council of Asia; the esteemed Al Thani Family, and to the people of the State of Qatar and to all those who had the honour of knowing and working with the late Father Amir.
His Highness the Father Amir, Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani will forever be remembered for his unwavering dedication, wisdom, and the distinguished services he rendered to the people of the State of Qatar.
He was widely recognized for his steadfast commitment to the advancement of sport and for his firm belief in its role as a means of human development and as a vehicle for promoting the values of peace, health, and well-being throughout society.
His contributions and enduring commitment have left a lasting legacy that will continue to inspire future generations.
During his youth, His Highness actively participated in football, swimming, and equestrian sports. He is widely credited with laying the foundations that contributed to the emergence of the State of Qatar as a leading sporting nation and a global capital of sport.
May his noble soul rest in eternal peace and give courage to his family and the people of state of Qatar to bear this great lost

وقد تركت إسهاماته والتزامه إرثًا راسخًا سيظل مصدر إلهام للأجيال القادمة
وفي سنوات شبابه، مارس سموه الأمير الوالد رياضة كرة القدم والسباحة والفروسية ويُنسب إليه الفضل في إرساء الأسس التي أسهمت في بروز دولة قطر كقوة رياضية رائدة وعاصمة عالمية للرياضة
نسأل الله العلي القدير أن يتغمد الفقيد بواسع رحمته، وأن يسكنه فسيح جناته، وأن يلهم أسرته الكريمة وشعب دولة قطر الصبر وحسن العزاء في هذا المصاب الجلل
