Sports competition manager outlines AIMAG programme for Riyadh 2026

Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, July 7, 2026: The sports programme for the 6th Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games will be gender-balanced with 3,000 athletes, the Chefs de Mission Seminar heard on Tuesday, July 7.

The sports competition senior manager, Mark Kaufmann, said the 6thAIMAG in December would feature 18 sports, 25 disciplines and 122 events.

Competition will start on December 11, two days before the opening ceremony on December 13, while the Athletes Village will pre-open from December 4-7 and officially open from December 8-24 – three days after the closing ceremony on December 21.

The training centre will be part of the Athletes’ Village at Princess Nourah Bint Abdulrahman University, and will be able to accommodate all sports with the exception of padel, whose players will train at the Boulevard Riyadh City.

AIMAG 6 will feature 18 sports, 25 disciplines and 122 events at Boulevard Riyadh City.  The 18 sports are:

Other information: 

*Team Welcome Ceremony on December 9-10 in the Village Plaza. Each ceremony will last 30 minutes, including a cultural performance.

*Athletes’ Village will have three main buildings in the residential zone.

*Official slogan: Asia in the Heart of Riyadh.

*Official mascot: Khuzama, a flower representing resilience, strength, growth and endurance; a symbol of Saudi heritage and Games spirit.
