OCA welcomes IOC’s decision Russian Athletes’ participation in international competitions

July 7, 2026, Kuwait City, Kuwait: The OCA, on behalf of the Asian Olympic Movement, today welcomed the decision of the IOC Executive Board to no longer apply recommended conditions of participation for Russian athletes and teams in international competitions.

The OCA shares the IOC’s belief that athletes’ participation in international competitions should not be restricted by the wars or conflicts of the countries they are from.

The OCA fully supports the IOC in its commitment to promoting peace through sport and condemns wars, armed conflicts and violence around the world.

Sport should serve as a beacon of hope and bring nations and peoples together. This was demonstrated most recently at the Asian Beach Games Sanya 2026, where athletes from all 45 Asian National Olympic Committees came together in peaceful competition at a time of conflict and tension in Asia and around the world.
