Thimphu, Bhutan, July 7, 2026: The National Coaching Academy, in collaboration with the Bhutan Olympic Committee and Olympic Solidarity, conducted the 4th Cohort of the Accelerated Sports Science Course on Sunday, July 5.

The intensive 20-day course from June 15 to July 5 marked another milestone in strengthening sports science education and building the capacity of coaches and sports professionals across Bhutan.

A total of 21 participants from various national sports federations and sports organisations participated in the course, which focused on a number of key areas of modern sports science including sports nutrition, sports injury prevention and management and biomechanics.

Through a combination of theoretical and practical learning, participants gained valuable knowledge in athlete nutrition, training planning and injury recovery strategies to support effective coaching and long-term athlete development.

The closing ceremony was attended by BOC Secretary General Sonam Karma Tshering, representatives from national sports federations, course facilitators and invited guests. All 21 participants received certificates in recognition of successfully completing the programme.

The BOC said it remained committed to expanding sports science education through future diploma and degree programmes to develop a strong network of qualified sports professionals.
