Dhaka, Bangladesh, July 7, 2026: The Bangladesh Olympic Association celebrated Olympic Day 2026 with a rally at the Bangladesh Army Stadium in Dhaka, under the patronage of BOA President and Chief of Army Staff General Waqar-uz-Zaman.
The Olympic Day rally was attended by more than 1,500 participants from various national sports federations, the Ministry of Youth and Sport, National Sports Council representatives, Olympians, athletes, coaches and school students.
Apart from the rally, demonstrations in karate, taekwondo and wushu were also staged.
The BOA President, addressing the gathering, emphasised the importance of spreading Olympic values of excellence, friendship and respect among all sections of the community and called upon everyone to maintain a healthy and active lifestyle through regular sports and physical exercise.
General Waqar-uz-Zaman also praised the number of ground-breaking initiatives taken by the government for the development of sport in the country and sought its help in the construction of the Bangladesh Olympic Complex in Trishal, Mymensingh with the aim of building an international standard facility.
In addition to the main event in Dhaka, Olympic Day celebrations were also held in other cities across the country including Chittagong, Rajshahi, Khulna, Sylhet, Barisal, Rangpur and Mymensingh.
