Astana, Kazakhstan, July 6, 2026: The National Olympic Committee of Kazakhstan and the Kazakh National University of Sports signed a Memorandum of Cooperation in Astana last Tuesday, July 2.
The signing ceremony took place as part of the university’s official opening, with the document endorsed by Kazakhstan NOC Secretary General Alimzhan Akayev and university Rector Tursynzada Kuangaliyeva.
The strategic agreement establishes a long-term partnership designed to advance physical education and sports development, launch joint educational and scientific initiatives and promote Olympic values.
Akayev congratulated the university’s faculty and leadership on the grand opening, highlighting the institution’s pivotal role in shaping the future of the nation’s sports industry.
“Today marks a historic milestone for our entire sporting community. This new university will serve as a joint platform for training highly qualified coaches and sports executives who will elevate domestic sports governance and represent Kazakhstan globally with distinction,” Akayev noted.
“Modern athletics success is inherently linked to quality education, scientific methodology and cutting-edge technology. I am confident that the KNUS will make a profound impact on sports science, the Olympic Movement and the cultivation of future champions. I wish the university staff a successful start, and the students – determination and great achievements,” he added.
Under this framework, both institutions will collaborate on national strategic objectives in sports administration. This includes driving elite and grassroots sports development while reinforcing the training pipeline for sports professionals.
Special emphasis will be placed on sports science, sports management and academic integration. The agreement outlines plans for joint scientific conferences, symposiums, seminars and master-classes held at the university campus tailored for coaches, athletes, support staff and sports executives.
