Tala Abu Khait makes women’s wrestling history for Jordan

Pattaya, Thailand, July 4, 2026: The Secretary General of the Jordan Olympic Committee, Rana Al Saeed, has congratulated Tala Abu Khait for winning a bronze medal at the Asian Under 20 Wrestling Championships in Thailand, becoming the first Jordanian female to achieve an Asian medal in Jordanian wrestling history.

“This historic achievement reflects the union's efforts to support women's sports, and underscores our players' ability to compete,” Rana wrote.

“Congratulations to Tala and coach Raed Al-Qaisi for this great achievement and to many more to come.”

Tala Abu Khait won bronze in the women’s 65kg category at the Asian Wrestling Championships held in Pattaya.

The Jordan Wrestling Federation added: “This achievement is the first Asian medal in the history of Jordanian women's wrestling – an historic landmark that reflects the great evolution of the game, and the fruit of continuous work within the Jordan Wrestling Federation.

“The achievement came under the leadership of coach Raed Al-Qaisi, who led the player through the tournament to reach the crowning podium to add a new milestone to the Jordanian wrestling record.

“Congratulations to the champion Tala Abu Khait, to the coach Raed Al-Qaisi and to the family of the Jordan Wrestling Federation on this achievement that will remain a landmark in the history of Jordanian sports.”
