Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, July 3, 2026: Dr. Norza Zakaria, President of the Olympic Council of Malaysia, President of the South East Asian Games Federation and OCA Vice President for the South East Asia zone, chaired the second meeting of the Sports and Technical Committee of the Malaysia SEA Games Organising Committee (MASOC) on Thursday, July 2.
The meeting discussed several key agenda items, including the committee's budget allocation, the list of sports appealing for inclusion in the 34th SEA Games 2027, the proposed competition venues across the various host clusters and the implementation timeline for the sports and technical preparations in accordance with the SEAGF Charter and Rules.
Dr. Norza said: "On behalf of MASOC, I would like to thank all committee members and their representatives for their attendance, especially those who travelled from Sarawak, Penang and Johor clusters.
“As each sport has its own unique technical requirements, it is essential that we establish a common direction and coordinated approach towards the technical preparations.
"I am confident that the Sports and Technical Committee, comprising key stakeholders in Malaysian sport, including NOC Malaysia, the National Sports Council, the National Sports Institute, the Sports Commissioner’s Office, the Malaysia Stadium Corporation and the State Governments of Sarawak, Penang and Johor, will successfully carry out its duties and responsibilities to ensure the successful organisation of the 34th SEA Games, which is scheduled to be held from September 18-29, 2027."
Dr. Norza said the shortlist of sports appealing for inclusion in the 34th SEA Games would be discussed at the second round of SEAGF meetings on July 16-17 at Sunway Resort Hotel, Sunway City Kuala Lumpur.
*Prior to the meeting, Dr. Norza Zakaria, in his capacity as Deputy Chairman I of MASOC and Chairman of the MASOC Sports and Technical Committee, presented the official letters of appointment to the following committee members:
*Mr. Mohd Nasir Ali – Secretary General of NOC Malaysia
*Mr. Abdul Rashid Yaakub – Chief Executive Officer of MASOC
*Mr. Jefri Ngadirin – Director General of National Sports Council
*Dr. Vellapandian Ponnusamy - Chief Executive Officer of National Sports Institute
