Wushu judges equipped to protect sporting integrity ahead of Asian Games

Haikou, China, July 2, 2026: The officials who will help uphold fairness on the field of play are now taking steps to protect it off the field as well.

Judges attending the International Wushu Judges Training and Certification Course in Haikou, China, took part in a dedicated Prevention of Competition Manipulation (PCM) education session delivered by Jamyang Namgyal, Manager of the Athletes Department at the OCA.

The course, organised by the International Wushu Federation in collaboration with the Wushu Federation of Asia and the OCA, forms part of the preparation of technical officials for upcoming major events, including the 20th Asian Games in Aichi-Nagoya from September 19 to October 4.

The session explored the growing threats posed by competition manipulation, the warning signs officials should be aware of and the important role judges play in safeguarding the credibility of the sport.

Participants also learnt about the real-world scenarios and the actions they should take if confronted with suspicious approaches or information.

A central message throughout the presentation was that protecting the integrity of competition is a collective responsibility. While athletes are often the focus of integrity education, technical officials are equally important in ensuring that competitions are conducted fairly and without outside influence.

Judges were also introduced to the OCA's reporting mechanism and encouraged to report any concerns or suspicious activity through the dedicated email address, reportmanipulation@oca.asia. The reporting channel allows information to be shared confidentially, helping the OCA respond swiftly to potential integrity threats.

The session forms part of the OCA's ongoing commitment to embedding integrity education across its member National Olympic Committees, athletes, officials and technical personnel, ensuring that the values of clean and fair competition remain at the heart of sport across Asia.

OCA WEBINAR

*Participants were also encouraged to register for the Webinar on PMC ahead of the Asian Games which will be conducted by the OCA on July 16 in collaboration with the IOC’s Olympic Movement Unit on Prevention of Competition manipulation.
