Dubai, United Arab Emirates, July 1, 2026: Sheikh Rashid bin Humaid Al Nuaimi, Vice President of the Emirates Olympic Committee, felicitated a delegation from the Emirates Athletics Federation, recognising the outstanding results by the national team at the Under-20 Asian Athletics Championships in Hong Kong in May.
Sheikh Rashid, who received the delegation at the EOC Headquarters in Dubai on Monday, June 29, praised the young athletes for their landmark achievement by finishing fourth in Asia from among 30 participating countries and regions, as well as the leading Arab nation.
The Emirates won six medals comprising five golds and one bronze at the championships.
Sheikh Rashid also commended the team for the historic qualification of 10 athletes for the U20 World Athletics Championships to be held in Oregon, United States, from August 4 – 9.
The EOC Vice President said: “We are proud of the honourable results achieved by the Emirates Athletics Federation recently, which reflects the volume of effort by the federation.
“We also congratulate our sons and daughters on this historic qualification to the World Championships, and we trust their ability to continue to write new chapters of achievement both continentally and internationally,” Sheikh Rashid added.
