Manila, Philippines, June 30, 2026: The Philippine Sports Commission honored the athletes and coaches who conquered the heights of the podium at the 3rd Asian Youth Games in Manama, Bahrain last October during a ceremony at PSC House in the Rizal Memorial Sports Complex on Monday, June 29.
The nation's delegation delivered 7 gold, 7 silver and 10 bronze medals. Each athlete received an incentive of 500,000 pesos (USD8,160) for gold, 250,000 (USD4,080) for silver and 100,000 (USD1,632) for bronze. The coaches also received incentives.
PSC Chairman Patrick C. Gregorio emphasized the purpose of the incentives as a motivation for them to continue pursuing their dreams, from #GrassrootsToGold.
“Whether we give you 5 pesos, 5,000 pesos, 50,000 pesos, 500,000 pesos, 5 million or 50 million pesos, the heart and the purpose is the same. Always be proud of serving the country - that is the greatest reward. No matter the amount, keep that with you. You carry our pride and honor,” said PSC Chairman Gregorio.
Present at the ceremony were PSC Commissioners Olivia "Bong" Coo, Walter Francis Torres, Matthew "Fritz" Gaston and Edward Hayco, together with Don Caringal of the POC, Deputy CDM Richard Lim, Association of Boxing Alliances in the Philippines President Marcus Manalo, Philippine Taekwondo Association Secretary General Raul Samson, Philsilat Sports Association President Princess Kiram and Samahang Weightlifting ng Pilipinas representative Patrick Lee.
