Manila, Philippines, June 28, 2026: The Philippine Olympic Committee remains steadfast in its mandate to safeguard the welfare of our athletes and ensure the unhindered development of Philippine sports.
With this commitment, the POC has officially stepped up to supervise and manage the national volleyball teams for all upcoming major international campaigns.
Under the leadership of POC President Abraham “Bambol” Tolentino and Secretary-General Atty. Wharton Chan, the POC has finalized and locked in the masterplan for the upcoming Aichi-Nagoya 20th Asian Games.
Front and center of this national campaign is the country's rising volleyball star, Bella Belen, who headlines a stacked and deeply talented Alas (Ace) Pilipinas women’s pool. To steer our women's squad toward continental success, the POC has officially reappointed Japanese head coach Takayuki Minowa.
On the men's side, international tactician Angiolino Frigoni has been reappointed as head coach to lead a powerhouse Alas Pilipinas men's squad. Both coaching appointments will take effect on July 1 and run through October 15.
To ensure our national athletes are fully equipped with the world-class support they deserve, the POC is working in close coordination with the Premier Volleyball League, through its President Ricky Palou and Commissioner Sherwin Malonzo, to guarantee absolute logistical and competitive backing for the women's squad.
Furthermore, the POC has given the coaching staff complete freedom to finalize the tournament's 12-player roster for each team.
