Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, June 27, 2026: The Asian Hockey Federation is deeply saddened by the passing of Rana Asif Maqsood, a respected hockey coach, administrator, mentor and one of the pioneering figures behind the development of hockey in Cambodia.
Rana Asif Maqsood played a significant role in establishing and nurturing Cambodian hockey, serving as coach and mentor to generations of players while helping lay the foundation for the sport's growth in the country.
The AHF posted: “Throughout his decades of service, Rana Asif dedicated his life to promoting hockey, inspiring young athletes and strengthening the hockey community across Asia.
“His passion, leadership and unwavering commitment earned him immense respect from players, coaches and administrators alike. He was instrumental in guiding Cambodia’s national hockey programs and remained a driving force behind the sport’s development in the region.”
The tribute concluded: “Rana Asif Maqsood’s contributions to Asian hockey will be remembered for generations. His legacy lives on through the countless athletes and officials he mentored and the lasting impact he made on the growth of hockey in Cambodia and across Asia.”
