Sporting Asia’s special tribute to Raja Randhir Singh

Kuwait City, Kuwait, June 22, 2026: The Olympic Council of Asia is proud to announce the publication of a special edition of Sporting Asia devoted to the life of Raja Randhir Singh.

The 16-page magazine reports on Randhir the Sportsman, Randhir the Sports Administrator and Randhir the Family Man, and includes tributes from the OCA President, HE Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad Al Thani, IOC President Kirsty Coventry, ANOC Secretary General Gunilla Lindberg and Indian Olympic Association President PT Usha.

The global Olympic sports movement was united in grief when Raja Randhir passed away at his home in New Delhi on May 27, 2026 at the age of 79.

His life was devoted to sport, as a five-time Olympian in shooting and India’s first Asian Games gold medallist in shooting at Bangkok 1978, and then in sports administration.

The magazine also includes five pages of tributes from National Olympic Committees, National Federations and International Federations, reflecting the esteem in which he was held as an Olympian, administrator, leader and, above all, as a human being – warm, kind and friendly.
