Dili, Timor-Leste, June 19, 2026: A press conference was held in Dili, the capital of Timor-Leste, to promote the 20th Asian Games Aichi-Nagoya 2026 on Friday, June 19.

Representatives from Asian Games organising committee AINAGOC, OCA and Timor-Leste National Olympic Committee provided an overview of Aichi-Nagoya 2026 to members of the media.

Manami Okumura, from the AINAGOC PR department, said the 100-day countdown ceremony on June 11 had presented the design of the torch for the torch relay, the gold, silver and bronze medals to be presented during the Games and also the uniforms of the torchbearers.

She added that tickets would go on sale to the general public at the end of this month.

The press conference attracted multiple television stations and media outlets, demonstrating strong local interest in the Asian Games, which will run from September 19 to October 4.

The Secretary General of the Timor-Leste National Olympic Committee, Laurentino Guterres, stated: “The Asian Games represent more than just a sporting competition; they symbolize unity, excellence, respect and friendship among nations.”

He also emphasized that the Asian Games Fun Run, scheduled for Saturday, June 20, would celebrate these values while reaffirming a commitment to sports development and youth engagement.

The OCA’s Director of Development and NOC Relations, Wissam Trkmani, delivered a message on how the Asian Games served as an opportunity to strengthen exchanges and solidarity across Asia and expressed his expectations for Aichi-Nagoya 2026.

“Connections with countries and regions across Asia continue to grow as we move closer to Aichi-Nagoya 2026. We will continue our efforts to build excitement and momentum toward the Games,” AINAGOC posted.
