ISU President Kim Jae-youl looks beyond Vision 2030

Tenerife, Spain, June 18, 2026: The Korean President of the International Skating Union, Kim Jae-youl, has been re-elected for a second four-year term, taking him through to the end of the Vision 2030 initiative.

Speaking after being re-elected President at the 60th Ordinary ISU Congress in Tenerife, Spain on June 12, Kim said: “Thank you all for your trust, your engagement and your support on this ambitious journey.

“Over the past few days, we have reflected on what we have achieved and the opportunities that lie ahead. We have accomplished a great deal together, and we should all be proud of that progress.

“Our work is far from over. Vision 2030 was never meant to be a finish line. It is part of an ongoing commitment to strengthen the future of skating, and that work will continue for as long as our sports exist”.

President Kim was confirmed by acclamation after standing as the sole candidate. Delegates from across the skating world rewarded his leadership with a standing ovation, reflecting strong support for the transformation agenda - ISU Vision 2030 - launched following his first election in 2022.

Over the past four years, President Kim has led the modernization of the ISU through Vision 2030, a long-term strategy built around five pillars: Growth, Opportunity, Innovation, Safeguarding and Unity.

During his first mandate, the ISU expanded its global reach, introduced new event concepts, strengthened athlete support, enhanced fan engagement, modernized governance structures and reinforced its commitment to integrity and safeguarding.

The elections held during the final day of Congress now provide the leadership team that will help deliver the next phase of that vision.
