Kathmandu, Nepal, June 16, 2026: Nepal’s first Olympic boxer Ram Prasad Gurung passed away on Sunday, June 14. He was 82.
Gurung was Nepal’s first Olympian in boxing, participating at the 1964 Tokyo Olympics.
The Nepal Olympic Committee is deeply saddened by the loss and has offered its deepest condolences to the family and friends of Ram Prasad Gurung.
“We extend our heartfelt condolences to his family, friends and the entire boxing community. His contribution to Nepali sports will always be remembered. May his soul rest in peace,” the Nepal NOC posted.
