OCA conducts 5th CC meeting in Nagoya, joins 100-day countdown celebrations

Nagoya, Japan, June 12, 2026: The OCA conducted the 5th Coordination Committee meeting for the 20th Asian Games Aichi-Nagoya 2026 in Nagoya over two days on June 11-12.

The meeting coincided with the 100-day countdown to the Games on Thursday, June 11 when the design of the torch for the torch relay was revealed along with the gold, silver and bronze medals in a ceremony at the Nagoya Noh Theatre.

This marked an important milestone as preparations enter their final stages for the Aichi-Nagoya 2026 Asian Games, which will run from September 19 to October 4.

Coordination Committee member Battushig Batbold, who is President of the Mongolian National Olympic Committee and an IOC Member, summed up the mood of the Coordination Committee meeting involving the OCA and the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games Organising Committee.

“As a Coordination Committee member, it’s great joining colleagues from across Asia to review the progress of preparations, including competition venues, athlete accommodation, transportation, technology, media operations and other key areas essential to delivering a successful Games,” he said in a social media post.

“From September 19 to October 4, 2026, more than 10,000 athletes from 45 National Olympic Committees will come together in Japan for Asia’s largest multi-sport event.

“Looking forward to seeing the athletes of Asia unite once again in the spirit of friendship, excellence and respect.”

OCA Coordination Committee Chair Tayyab Ikram featured prominently in the 100-day countdown ceremony on June 11, when the uniforms of the torchbearers and the celebrities to run the first leg of the relay were also presented.

OCA Director General Husain Al Musallam was also among the VIPS, along with the Governor of Aichi Prefecture and President of AINAGOC, Hideaki Ohmura.
