Nagoya, Japan, June 11, 2026: The stage is set for an exciting 100-day countdown ceremony to the 20th Asian Games on Thursday, June 11.
“It’s finally the day,” organising committee AINAGOC posted. “Let’s share the occasion and excitement together.”
The 100-day countdown ceremony will be held in two parts. Part one, from 2pm to 3pm, will feature the design of the torch for the torch relay and also the medals to be presented at the 20th Asian Games, which will run from September 19 to October 4. There will also be a performance by official Asian Games supporter MYERA, an all-girl J-Pop group.
Part two will take place from 3.30pm to 8pm and will feature an exhibition of sports manga.
The venue for the ceremony is Midland Square B1F Atrium Event Space, and the VIP guests will be the Governor of Aichi Prefecture and AINAGOC President Hideaki Ohmura and Nagoya City Mayor Ichiro Hirosawa.
The names of the celebrities to run the first leg of the torch relay will also be announced.
“AINAGOC is preparing to welcome our guests and to show off the torch and medals for the first time – and more,” the organising committee added.
The 20th Asian Games will be hosted by Nagoya City and Aichi Prefecture as well as other cities such as Tokyo and Osaka. It will be the third time for Japan to host the Asian Games after Tokyo 1958 and Hiroshima 1994.
AINAGOC is expecting the OCA's 45 National Olympic Committees to send 15,000 athletes and officials to compete in 43 sports, 71 disciplines and 469 events.
