Kuala Lumpur, June 1, 2026: The Asian Cricket Council has congratulated Thailand, Malaysia and China who booked their spots in the Aichi-Nagoya 2026 Asian Games women’s cricket competition.
Thailand and Malaysia, who contested the final of the qualifying tournament for the women’s cricket competition at the 20th Asian Games in Japan in September-October, 2026, have made the cut for the showpiece competition along with China who finished third.
While the finalists gained automatic qualification for the Asian Games, all interest was on the third-place play-off on Sunday, May 31 between China and Nepal.
China got the better of Nepal in a rain-hit game with a five-wicket victory. Later in the day Thailand defeated Malaysia by nine wickets.
The three qualifying teams will join the four full members – Bangladesh, India, Pakistan and Sri Lanka who qualified automatically – along with hosts Japan in the women’s cricket competition in Aichi-Nagoya.
Meanwhile the men’s qualifying tournament is still ongoing in Kuala Lumpur. The five regional full members – Afghanistan, Bangladesh, India, Pakistan and Sri Lanka – qualify directly alongside hosts Japan. There are four more spots available, and it is being contested by Nepal, China, Malaysia, Qatar, Bahrain, Hong Kong China, Oman and Singapore.
