JOC President praises Raja Randhir’s ‘invaluable guidance and support’ for Aichi-Nagoya 2026

Tokyo, Japan, May 28, 2026: The President of the Japanese Olympic Committee, Seiko Hashimoto, has written to the OCA President, HE Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad Al Thani, to express her condolences over the passing of Raja Randhir Singh.

“It is with deep sorrow that I have learned of the passing of Mr. Raja Randhir Singh, and I would like to express my deepest condolences to his family and to the Olympic Council of Asia,” she wrote.

“I am deeply grateful for Mr. Raja Randhir Singh’s long-standing contributions to the Olympic Movement, particularly in his recent role as President of the Olympic Council of Asia. He also provided invaluable guidance and support in the preparations for the Aichi-Nagoya 2026 Asian Games to be held in Japan this September.

“I would like to take this opportunity to once again express my heartfelt appreciation for his dedication and leadership.

“May his soul rest in peace, and may his legacy continue to inspire the Olympic Movement in Asia for generations to come.”
