Lausanne, Switzerland, May 28, 2026: The President of the International Hockey Federation, Tayyab Ikram, has described Raja Randhir Singh as a “true ambassador” for the sport of hockey.
"Very saddened by the passing of Raja Randhir Singh, five-time Olympian, Honorary Life President of the Olympic Council of Asia, Honorary Member of the International Olympic Committee and former President of the Olympic Council of Asia.
“A highly respected figure within the Olympic Movement, Raja Randhir Singh devoted his life to promoting sport and strengthening Olympic values in India, in Asia and beyond.
“Through his visionary guidance, steadfast dedication and significant contributions to the progress of sport globally, he earned lasting respect and admiration from all.
“I had the privilege of sharing a strong personal relationship with him. He was like a mentor to me. We learnt many great values from him.
“He was a passionate lover of hockey and a true ambassador for the sport, whose warmth, grace and wonderful personality left a lasting impression on everyone who knew him.
“In my personal capacity, and on behalf of the global hockey community, I would like to extend our heartfelt condolences to his family and friends, especially those from the Asian sports community."
