Phnom Penh, Cambodia, May 20, 2020: The President of the National Olympic Committee of Cambodia and Minister of Tourism, His Excellency Dr Thong Khon, led a meeting of the SEA Games organising committee CAMSOC at the NOCC HQ on Tuesday, May 19.
Cambodia will be hosting the Southeast Asian Games for the first time in 2023. It will be the 32nd edition of the regional sports extravaganza which began in 1959.
The main focus of the meeting was the importance of upgrading transport infrastructure connecting to the national stadium and the designation of working tasks and responsibilities among the various sub-committees.
It was also agreed to have weekly meetings with key personnel to ensure that the progress and preparations run smoothly for Cambodia – the Kingdom of Wonder – to host a successful SEA Games in 2023.
The SEA Games involves the 11 National Olympic Committees of the region and is held every two years.
The 30th SEA Games was held in the Philippines last year and the 31st SEA Games will be in Vietnam in 2021.
