Raja Randhir was a ‘remarkable man’, says OOC Board member

Muscat, Oman, May 28, 2026: Taha Al Kishry, a member of the Oman Olympic Committee Board of Directors, has sent a letter of condolence to the family of the late Raja Randhir Singh and to members of the Olympic Council of Asia.

“It is with deep sadness that I learned of the passing of Dr. Raja Randhir Singh. On behalf of myself and all who had the honour of knowing him, please accept my most heartfelt condolences,” Taha writes.

“Dr. Raja Randhir Singh was a remarkable man — a five-time Olympian, the first Indian shooter to win an Asian Games gold medal and a tireless servant of sport throughout his life. His decades of dedication to the Olympic Council of Asia, culminating in his historic election as its President in 2024, reflect the depth of his commitment to Asian sport and the Olympic values we all hold dear.

“Those of us who had the privilege of working alongside him within the OCA will never forget his wisdom, his warmth and his unwavering belief in the power of sport to unite people. He leaves behind a legacy that will inspire generations to come.

“My thoughts and prayers are with his family and with all at the OCA during this sorrowful time. May he rest in peace.”
