World Taekwondo says Raja Randhir’s passing is ‘great loss’ to Olympic movement

Seoul, Korea, May 27, 2026: The President of World Taekwondo, Chungwon Choue, has written to the OCA President, His Excellency Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad Al Thani, to express his grief over the passing of former OCA President, Honorary Life President OCA and IOC Honorary Member Raja Randhir Singh.

 

“It was with great sadness that I learned of the passing of Mr. Randhir Singh, Former President of the Olympic Council of Asia and IOC Honorary Member.

“Mr. Singh devoted his life to the Olympic Movement and to the development of sport throughout Asia. His leadership, wisdom and unwavering commitment greatly contributed to strengthening unity, friendship and cooperation among the Asian sporting community.

“Throughout his distinguished career, he earned the admiration and respect of colleagues around the world through his dedication, integrity and passion for sport.

“His passing is a great loss not only to the Olympic Council of Asia but also to the entire international sports movement. His legacy and contributions will continue to inspire future generations.

“On behalf of World Taekwondo, and in my personal capacity, I extend my deepest condolences to his family, friends and the entire Olympic Council of Asia community during this difficult time.
