ausanne, Switzerland, May 27, 2026: ANOC is deeply saddened to have learned of the passing of former ANOC Vice President, OCA President and IOC Honorary Member Raja Randhir Singh at the age of 79.

Following a successful career as an athlete, during which he represented India at five Olympic Games and became the country’s first Asian Games shooting gold medallist at the 1978 Asian Games in Bangkok, Singh moved into sports administration where he became one of the most respected figures in the Olympic Movement in Asia.

He served as Secretary General of the Indian Olympic Association from 1987 to 2012 and also held a number of senior leadership positions within the OCA, serving as Secretary General from 1991 to 2021 before becoming Acting President in 2021 and then the first Indian to be elected OCA President in 2024.

During his time leading the OCA, which was sadly cut short due to illness, Singh was an ANOC Vice President, while he also served as an IOC Member from 2001 until 2014, when he became an IOC Honorary Member.

ANOC Secretary General Gunilla Lindberg said: “Once his shooting career was over, Randhir quickly became a deeply respected member of the Olympic Movement, and especially the NOC family. He was a strong advocate for NOCs no matter their location, and an influential figure in the Indian NOC and OCA.

“He will be sorely missed by all those who had the pleasure of knowing him, and the thoughts of ANOC are with his family, friends and colleagues during this difficult time.”
