Jordan's King Abdullah II recognises national football team for World Cup qualification

Amman, Jordan, May 26, 2026: The King of Jordan, His Majesty King Abdullah II, bestowed upon the national football team the Order of Independence, First Class, in recognition of their qualification for the FIFA World Cup for the first time in their history.

 

The award was also in recognition of Jordan’s runner-up finish in the FIFA Arab Cup Qatar 2025, and their embodiment of a national sense of pride among Jordanians.

 

The team’s captain Ihsan Haddad received the award.

 

Jordan will feature for the first time at the FIFA World Cup finals which kick off next month in the United States, Canada and Mexico.

 

King Abdullah II also bestowed upon karate athlete Mohammad Faiq Al-Jaafari the King Abdullah II Ibn Al-Hussein Medal of Excellence, Second Class, in recognition of his excellence in karate and for winning several gold medals in international competitions.

 

The royal honour came during a ceremony held at Al Husseiniya Palace in the presence of Her Majesty Queen Raina Al Abdullah, HRH Crown Prince Al Hussein bin Abdullah II and several other members of the Royal family.
