Seoul, Korea, May 22, 2026: The Korean Sport & Olympic Committee has appointed Ban Ki-moon, the 8th Secretary-General of the United Nations, as an Honorary Advisor.
Ban Ki-moon made history in Korean diplomacy as the first Korean to serve as Secretary-General of the UN. He also served as Chair of the IOC Ethics Commission and currently continues his work as an IOC Honour Member.
“I also had the privilege of serving as the inaugural board member of the Ban Ki-moon Foundation for a Better Future and I have continued to maintain a meaningful relationship continuously,” said Ryu Seung-min, President of the KSOC, in a social media post.
“As he continues to actively engage around the world, I sincerely look forward to his valuable advice and support for the future development of the KSOC.”
