Nagoya, Japan, May 19, 2026: The host broadcaster for the 20th Asian Games in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan, outlined their plans for the TV rights-holding broadcasters at the second World Broadcasters Meeting on Tuesday, May 19.

The Shanghai-based China Media Group-International Media Port (CMG-IMP) has been appointed host broadcaster by the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games Organising Committee and approved by the OCA.

CMG-IMP, therefore, is entrusted with the responsibility of producing the international signal coverage of the 20th Asian Games and providing rights-holding broadcasters with facilities and services.

CMG-IMP is planning to provide live coverage of 28 sports, as well as the opening ceremony on September 19 and closing ceremony on October 4. The other 15 sports will be broadcast via ENG (electronic news gathering).

The host broadcaster will also provide English commentary in 10 sports – swimming, athletics, badminton, basketball, boxing, cricket, football, artistic gymnastics, table tennis and volleyball (beach volleyball/volleyball) - and the opening and closing ceremonies, plus a daily highlight show.

CMG-IMP will also showcase the host city and prefecture in a series of “beauty cam feeds” such as Nagoya Castle, Nagoya TV Tower, the main venue of Nagoya City Mizuho Park Athletic Stadium, cauldron and cityscape of Nagoya City.

Broadcast coverage will involve daily highlights (54 minutes) and golden moments (5 minutes), delivered within three hours after all competitions have concluded each day, plus a two-hour “After the Games” review.
