Tashkent, Uzbekistan, May 17, 2026: Petra Sorling, President of the International Table Tennis Federation was welcomed by the leadership of the National Olympic Committee of Uzbekistan at its headquarters in Tashkent on Saturday, May 16.
The head of the ITTF was met by Oybek Kasimov, Uzbekistan NOC Secretary General, who briefed her on the development of the Olympic movement in the country and the landmark results of national athletes.
As a part of the visit, a meeting was held with the Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Uzbekistan Zulaykho Mahkamova, as well as the leadership of the NOC and the country’s table tennis federation.
At the meeting priority issues related to taking the development of table tennis to the next level was discussed.
Ms. Sorling specifically acknowledged the high level of organisation of the WTT Youth Contender tournament in Tashkent. Views were also exchanged on improving the skills of Uzbek specialists, organising seminars for international referees and coaches with the participation of experienced officials, and holding more international and prestigious tournaments in the country.
