OCA presents Asian Games Hub to ABU Sports Media Conference

Chengdu, China, May 14, 2026: The OCA’s Director of Media and Broadcast, Mr. Jeans Zhou Jian, delivered a keynote speech at the Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Union (ABU) Sports Media Conference Chengdu 2026.

His speech was entitled “Digital Media Communication for the Future Asian Games” and focused on the Over-The-Top (OTT) digital streaming platform, the Asian Games Hub. This platform represents a pivotal shift in how the OCA connects with audiences across the continent.

Here are some of the key aspects of the Asian Games Hub:

*Official Digital Hub: It serves as the official digital broadcast and media hub for all OCA-governed multi-sport events, centralizing access to content.

*Strategic Goal: A strategic investment in digital media sovereignty and direct fan engagement, bypassing traditional broadcast gatekeepers.

*Free, Direct-to-Consumer: Enables free streaming of live competitions, replays, news and sports content directly to fans across Asia and worldwide.

The Core Concept

*Over-The-Top (OTT) is the delivery of video/audio content directly to viewers via the public internet.

*It bypasses traditional distribution channels like cable, satellite, or broadcast TV.

*The term describes content traveling "over" ISP infrastructure, which the broadcaster does not own.

In Practical Terms

*Any viewer with an internet-connected device (smartphone, tablet, smart TV, computer) can access live or on-demand content from anywhere in the world, without a cable subscription or a set-top box.

The presentation also included OTT vs Traditional Broadcasting, Categories of OTT Services, How OTT technology works, OCA digital media strategy, the OCA OTT platform Asian Games Hub including content available on the platform and live streaming during the Games.

The ABU Sports Media Conference runs from May 14-16. The ABU Sports Media Conference is a premier event that brings together ABU members, sports media professionals and industry leaders to exchange on multi-market review, establish cooperations and collaborations and explore the future trend of sports broadcasting.
